Lamentation

Who is Mai? Mai Ziadah, anyone acquainted with Khalil Gebran may know her. She really means nothing to me, but I came to know of her through someone else. She's simply a symbol I use.

--
How wrong you are,
to think you're not,
my shining star.
How wrong you are,
to lie to me,
when I have never,
lied to you.

In love my Mai,
there is a level,
where lovers reach.
The maiden fears,
her lover's look,
her lover's touch,
her lover's speech.

And shivers,
when she sees him.
And thinks,
she truly fears him.

For love,
that's grand.
Is mixed,
with fears,
from the lover's strength,
and the lover's soul.
Who has her heart,
as his only goal.

Your weakness,
is that you pretend,
to be so strong.

Oh be so weak,
and feel the need,
for me.

And let your weakness flow,
with all its majesty.

I've done it too,
to show you what,
I felt for you.

And if you're not,
so brave.
You'll weep,
within,
your living grave.

In love my Mai,
the weakness is,
the lover's proof.
Of utter trust.
He lays exposed,
to his lover's whims,
and his lover's lusts.

And if she,
loves him true,
she'll do,
as he will do.

And lay to him exposed,
to show her trust...

How wrong you are,
to lose me.
And lose the chance,
to choose me.

How wrong you are,
and hasty,
to lose a prize,
so tasty.

If you only were,
so patient.
To meet your man,
and patient.

It is your loss,
not mine.
My love was sweeter,
than the sweetest wine.

It is your loss,
not mine.
To lose a love,
divine.
